08th Feb Update:- 200 units of free electricity for tenants also

Amid rumors spreading across the state that the Gruh Jyoti Yojana which provides 200 units of free electricity to the citizens of the state will not be applicable for the tenants living in the state, The Southern Telangana Electricity Distribution Company (DISCOM) has denied these rumors and clarified that the scheme benefits will be provided to the tenants also. Although, the exact eligibility criteria have not been clarified yet by the government. The government will soon issue guidelines related to this free electricity scheme.

As the people of Telangana have not paid their electricity bills for the past 2 months because of this now the government has planned and released a new rule for the Gruha Jyoti Scheme.

Gruha Jyoti Scheme Rules List

• Applicants must fill out the administration application properly.
• There should be no electricity bill arrears, Only those who have cleared all the previous pending electricity bills are provided with the benefit
• All electricity bill dues should be cleared within this month.

These are the Mandatory rules to get 200 units of free electricity under the Gruha Jyoti Scheme. Those who fail to fulfill the above conditions will not be eligible even after your Praja Palana application and will be completely disqualified from the scheme.

Gruha Jyothi Scheme Telangana Eligibility

Here are the eligibility criteria for the Gruha Jyothi Scheme:

Domicile:

• You must be a permanent resident of Karnataka.

Electricity Connection:

• You must have a residential/domestic electricity connection at your home.
• The connection should be registered in your name.

Electricity Consumption:

• Your average monthly electricity consumption for the year 2022-2023 should be less than 200 units.
• Only one member per household is eligible to apply for the scheme.

Residence Proof of Telangana:

• Aadhaar card with Telangana address
• Voter ID with Telangana address
• Ration card with Telangana address
• Registered lease agreement/rent agreement with Telangana address
• Electricity bill with Telangana address

Ration Card: Any of the following:

• State-Issued Ration Card
• Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Card

Electricity Bill/ Connection Number: 

The recent electricity bill shows the following information:

• Consumer ID/Account ID
• Name of the consumer
• Meter number
• Property address

Additional documents:

• Passport-size photograph of the applicant
• Self-attested copy of the applicant’s bank passbook with the account number and IFSC code.
