PM Scholarship Scheme 2024-25 Dates

Under the scope of this PM Scholarship 2024-25 scheme, scholarships for technical and vocational education are provided in the form of financial assistance to the children and spouses of the military personnel of the country. Under the Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Scheme, scholarships are awarded to children and spouses of ex-martyrs and serving soldiers of all sectors of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Assam Rifles, Central Armed Forces, and RPF/SRPF. BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB personnel are also included under the Central Armed Forces.

Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also announced to provide the benefit of this scheme to the families of martyred police forces of Union Territories and all the States of the country from the academic session 2019-20. A scholarship will be provided to the dependents of serving soldiers based on availability. The last date for online application for the PM Scholarship Scheme 2024 is 31 December 2023.

History of the Pradhan Mantri Student Scholarship Scheme  

Former Prime Minister of India Shri Manmohan Singh announced the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) from the Red Fort on 15 August 2005. Under the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS), an annual scholarship of Rs 36000 is provided to girls every year. Boys are provided an annual scholarship of Rs 30000 at the rate of Rs 3000 per month, while boys are provided Rs 2500 per month.

Rewards Details

The following rewards will be presented to the concerned authorities under the PM Scholarship Scheme presented by the Prime Minister of India:-

  • While a total of 2,000 eligible candidates get benefits under this scheme every year, the number of girls receiving this scholarship is equal to the number of boys receiving this scholarship. However, the amount of scholarship given to girls is INR 3,000 per month and the amount of scholarship given to boys is INR 2,500 per month, paid annually. Furthermore, the duration of the scholarship may vary from one year to five years depending on the course duration. Adding to this, 500 more scholarships (250 for boys and 250 for girls) will be given to the wards of the State Police Personnel who are martyred during Naxal/Terror attacks from 2019-20 onwards.

Eligibility criteria for the PM Scholarship Scheme 2024-25

If you have taken admission in an undergraduate level course, you must have at least 60% marks in 10+2, and if you have taken admission in a postgraduate level course, you must have at least 60% marks in. Graduation level. It is necessary to have 60% marks. The following categories of persons are considered eligible to apply for the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme.

  • These include wives and children of martyrs and ex-servicemen of the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard.
  • These include wives and children of former, serving, and martyred soldiers of BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, and Assam Rifles.
  • RPF and SRPF include wives and children of retired and ex-servicemen.
  • These also include wives and children of state and union territory police forces who have been martyred in Naxalism or terrorist attacks.

The following documents will be required while applying online for the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme:

  • Aadhaar-linked bank account details
  • PPO/Discharge Certificate of Ex-Serviceman or Service Certificate of Serving Serviceman (as applicable)
  • Certificate of minimum eligibility qualification (e.g. 10+2/Diploma or Graduation)
  • Details of the college and course where you have taken admission in professional course.

Selection Criteria For PM Scholarship Scheme

The applicant must follow the following selection criteria to successfully apply for this scholarship program:-

  • Category A: The first preference is given to the wards and widows of CAPFs & AR personnel who were killed in action.
  • Category B: The second preference is given to the wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel who got disabled in action.
  • Category C: The third preference is given to the wards and widows of deceased CAPFs & AR personnel who died during their service for causes attributable to Government service.
  • Category D: The next preference is given to the wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel who got disabled during their service with a disability attributable to Government service.
  • Category E: Further, preference is given to the wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel who have received gallantry awards.
  • Category F: The next preference is given to the wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel (PBOR only).
  • Category G: Lastly, the preference will be given to the wards of serving CAPFs & AR personnel (PBOR) subject to the availability of the scholarship.
  • The dependents wards of State Police Personnel who died during Naxal/Terror attacks will also be given preference.

How to register on the PMSS portal?

By following the steps given below you can very easily register for the PM Scholarship Scheme on the National Scholarship Portal.

  • Step 1: First of all, open the official website of the National Scholarship Portal https://sholarships.gov.in/.
  • Step 2: On the homepage of the website, click on the “New Registration” link in the “Applicant Corner”.
  • Step 3: Now, select the checkbox of “Undertaking” on the page that opens on your screen and click on “Continue”.
  • Step-4: Now, verify your mobile number in the first step and Aadhaar number in the second step. After this, the registration form will open on your screen, fill it out carefully and click on the “Register” button.

Thus, your registration on the NSP portal is completed. You have to carefully note down your registration number appearing on the screen.

How to apply for the PM Scholarship 2024-25?

All the applicants in this category have to follow the steps given below to become the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme.

  • Step 1: Open the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.
  • Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link of “New Application” in the “Applicant Corner”.
  • Step-3: Now the login page will open, where you have to enter your registration number, password, and captcha and click on the “Login” button. After this, verify it by typing the OTP received on your mobile.

Remember that for the first PMSS Portal login, your date of birth will be used as the password in the format DD-MM-YYYY.

  • Step-4: After this, the window for creating a new password will open, where you will have to create a new password and submit it.
  • Step-5: Now the PM Scholarship application form 2024 will open, which has to be filled out carefully. It is most important to select your respective category as per your eligibility in “Basic Profession” from “Central Armed Forces/Assam Rifles, RPF/SRPF, State Police Personnel” etc. at the end of the application form. Next, click on the “Save and Continue” button.
  • Step-6: Now select “Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Scheme” in the “Select Scheme” column under “Scheme” on the page that appears on the screen. After that upload all the required documents by writing your address and finally click on the “Final Submit” button.

Renewal Rules for PM Scholarship

The applicant must follow the following rules in water to renew their scholarship for the scholarship program:-

  • Obtaining at least 50% marks in each semester or academic year
  • Passing in all subjects in each year/semester in one attempt

Eligibility Criteria for PM Scholarship

  • Pursuing professional courses mentioned in the list below. (Note: Not applicable for lateral entry and integrated courses)
  • The minimum education qualification to apply for these courses should be class 12/ diploma/ graduation
  • Obtaining at least 60% marks or above in the minimum educational qualification. (Note: For renewal in subsequent years, the applicants need to obtain at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination)
