About PM SHRI School
PM SHRI School is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Government of India. This initiative is intended to develop more than 14500 PM SHRI Schools managed by Central Government/State/UT Government/local bodies including KVS and NVS in which every student feels welcomed and cared for, where a safe and stimulating learning environment exists, where a wide range of learning experiences are offered, and where good physical infrastructure and appropriate resources conducive to learning are available to all students.
The students selected in the PM SHRI Schools login are nurtured in such a way that they become productive and contributing citizens, building an equitable, inclusive, and pluralistic society as envisaged in the National Education Policy 2020.
Under the PM SHRI Schools, more than 20 lakh students are expected to be the direct beneficiaries of this scheme. The scheme will also promote an understanding of various dimensions of the quality of school education and inform policy, practice, and implementation. Under this scheme, the education of schools will be extended to other schools of the country.

PM Shri School Portal Launched
Today, November 3, 2022, the portal for choosing Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) schools was opened by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. On the portal, pmshrischools.education.gov.in, the state governments will be able to apply online. Through the portal, the state governments can choose which schools will be turned into PM SHRI schools. The schools will help show how the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is being put into place and will become models for other schools.

PM SHRI Schools Key Features
PM SHRI Schools The scheme has been launched to provide high-quality education in an inclusive and joyful school environment that will take care of the diverse backgrounds, multilingual needs, and different academic abilities of children and help them develop their learning as per the vision of NEP. The process will be further simplified.
PM SHRI Schools will guide other schools in their respective areas.
PM SHRI schools will be developed as green schools, all the schools joining this scheme with solar panels, LED lights and a nutrition garden with natural farming, waste management, plastic-free, water conservation and harvesting, related to the protection of the environment Traditions will be studied such that environment-friendly aspects will be included. Hackathons related to climate change and adopting sustainable lifestyles will also create awareness.
The pedagogy to be followed in these schools will be more experiential, holistic, integrative, game/toy-based (especially, in the foundational years), inquiry-driven, discovery-oriented, learner-centred, discussion-based, flexible and fun-filled.
Each child in each class will be focused on learning a. Assessment at all levels will be based on conceptual understanding and application of knowledge in real life situations and will be competency-based.
Under this scheme, the sector will be linked with skill councils and local industry to enhance employability and provide better employment opportunities.
A High Quality Schools Framework is being developed, which specifies key performance indicators to measure outcomes.

PM SHRI Schools Implementation Strategy
PM SHRI Schools will be implemented through Samagra Shiksha, existing administrative structure available for KVS and NVS. Other autonomous bodies will be involved on a project specific basis as required.
These schools will be closely monitored to assess the progress and understand the challenges faced in the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020.
PM SHRI Schools Selection Method
PM SHRI schools will be selected through challenge mode, wherein the schools are supported to become exemplary schools. For this scheme, schools will have to apply themselves on the online portal. The YES Portal will be opened four times in a year, once in every quarter.
Primary schools (classes 1-5/1-8) and secondary schools (classes 1-10/1-12/6-10/6-12) are managed by the Central/State/UT Governments/Local Self. Governments having UDISE+ code will be considered for selection under the scheme. The selection will be done through a three stage process with definite time limit which is as follows:-
- Step-1: States/UTs will sign an MoU agreeing to implement the NEP in full, with the Center committing to support these schools to achieve quality assurance specified as PM SHRI schools.
- Phase 2: In this phase, a set of schools eligible to be selected as PM SHRI schools will be identified based on the minimum benchmark determined through UDISE+ data.
- Phase 3: This phase is based on the challenge method to fulfill certain criteria. Only schools from the above eligible schools will compete subject to meeting the conditions of the challenge. The fulfillment of the conditions will be certified by the States/KVS/JNVs through physical inspection.
States/UTs/KVS/JNVs will verify the claims reported by the schools and recommend the list of schools to the Ministry.
A maximum of two schools (one primary and one secondary/senior secondary) per block/ULB will be selected under this scheme with an upper limit on the total number of schools in India. Geo-tagging of schools will be done for the selection and monitoring of PM SHRI schools.
